DESCRIPTION:
One of the most significant changes introduced in the Strengthening Career and Technical Education for the 21st Century Act (Perkins V) is the requirement for the new comprehensive local needs assessment related to CTE programs which must also be updated every two years. (Section 134(c))
In Colorado, needs assessments will be done regionally in collaboration with all secondary and postsecondary partners in an economic development region as identified by CCCS.
EC BOCES will host the Perkins V Needs Assessment for Region 5 after the SAC meeting on September 25 from 1-5. Each district must send a representative to attain program approval, program reimbursement from the state and participate in Perkins activities.
