DESCRIPTION:
How many of us have MLLs/ELLs who sound proficient socially yet lack the academic vocabulary to access our content and learn it deeply? Join Rachel Fairchild this summer as she deepens our understanding of surface, deep and transfer of learning around vocabulary for Multilingual Learners. In this session, participants will delve deeper into the implementation and use of high leverage vocabulary strategies and how to apply those strategies intentionally for surface, deep and transfer learning. We will also explore how to utilize the four domains of language, Speaking, Writing, Reading and Listening (SWRL) to further deepen vocabulary instruction. This session is geared toward K-12 teachers.
Lunch will be provided and stipends paid to those attending.
