DATE: Tuesday, October 15, 2019
TIME: 4:15 - 5:15 P.M.
LOCATION: Over Zoom
PRESENTER: Isaac Wells
DESCRIPTION:
The more connections students make to concepts and strategies, the better they retain and apply what they learn. Like listening and speaking, reading and writing are directly related, but the relationship is not always clear to students. Together we will explore how students can set and monitor goals which build on strengths and lead to improvements in both subjects. Teachers will create and share plans that make the most of whole class and small group instruction using favorite texts and excerpts.
Learn to:
· Clarify the demands of the standards for readers and writers
· Connect reading and writing for students
· Integrate reading and writing learning throughout the literacy day
· Use resources the ECBOCES has already purchased to connect reading and writing
· Empower students to take ownership of their learning in reading and writing
