DESCRIPTION:
Conscious Discipline is a researched-based program that aims to help adults to stay calm enough to see misbehavior as a signal to teach rather than to punish, and is a comprehensive social-emotional program that aims to teach children missing social-emotional skills. Conscious Discipline uses a brain state model as a framework, while equipping adults with skills that they can then teach to children. In addition, Conscious Discipline aims to cultivate a collaborative environment through a school family model. Conscious Discipline is a trauma-informed model and can be utilized to reach the most difficult and relationship resistant children. Through the presentation, participants will be exposed to the general tenant of Conscious Discipline and be exposed to the brain state model. Participants will also gain knowledge regarding the impact of trauma on young children and how to apply the Conscious Discipline framework to working with children exposed to stress and trauma.
