SWAP matches business employment needs, with the strengths and abilities of a unique group of 16-25 year olds who have the potential to be assets to employers.
SWAP is a joint effort between your East Central BOCES member school district and the Colorado Division of Vocational Rehabilitation.
The goal of SWAP is to place young adults with disabilities in jobs as they transition from school to work. This program is designed for students who are, or may have been, in Special Education, on a 504 Plan, and have difficulties finding or keeping employment.
SWAP provides the following services at no charge:
● Career exploration
● Pre-employment skills such as:
Resume development
Interview skills preparation
Assistance with completing applications
Employer expectations information
Grooming and hygiene requirements
● Job development / placement
● One year follow-up with SWAP student and employer after he / she has successfully completed ninety days of employment.
SWAP works with young adults between the ages of 16-25. These individuals may be in-school, out of school, at risk of dropping out, graduates, drop-outs, under or unemployed. This program focuses on helping young people prepare for, get and keep a job based on their abilities, interests, limitations and strengths. Some schools districts may count SWAP as a credit toward graduation requirements. Let us help your young adult succeed in the work place. Please contact me, Kent Jostes, at (719) 775-2342 Ext 105.
